FRT-15L3® (MIL)
Single-Stage (3-Position) Forced Reset Trigger for the AR-15

Take your AR-15 to the next level with the official Rare Breed Triggers FRT-15L3® (MIL). This drop-in, duty-grade 3-position Forced Reset Trigger (Safe/Semi/FRT®) is 100% manufactured and assembled in the USA. The FRT-15L3® (MIL) replicates the classic style of a Mil-Spec style trigger, hammer and trigger pins, and selector, but takes it to the next level with a 3-position forced reset trigger, single sided Mil-Spec selector and Mil-Spec Hammer and Trigger pins for a secure, hassle-free installation.

Performance on the Range
Enhance your shooting experience with the FRT-15L3® (MIL) Forced Reset Trigger. Designed to accelerate follow-up shots while remaining within legal parameters, the innovative Forced Reset system resets the trigger after each shot, enabling faster, more consistent firing. Each trigger pull fires one round, ensuring full legal compliance while delivering improved speed and performance. Perfect for competitive shooting, tactical training, or maximizing your AR-15’s potential.

Innovative Design and Features

  • 3-Position Functionality: The FRT-15L3® (MIL) features Safe, Semi, and Forced Reset modes, controlled via a 3-position Mil-Spec safety selector. Whether you’re focused on precision shooting or rapid-fire drills, this system adapts to your needs.
  • Effortless Installation: Designed for easy installation on MIL-SPEC AR-15 lowers, the FRT-15L3® (MIL) includes Mil-Spec hammer and trigger pins, providing secure attachment and preventing unwanted movement during extended use. The (0/90/180) safety selector seamlessly integrates into any Mil-Spec lower receiver.

Single-Stage Trigger in Both Operating Modes

  • Semi-Automatic Mode: In Semi-Automatic mode, the trigger delivers a consistent, smooth 4–4.5 lb pull weight throughout the entire length of travel, from initial pressure to the break. This single-stage design provides a predictable trigger feel that promotes precise control and extremely fast follow-up shots.
  • Forced Reset (FRT®) Mode: In FRT® mode, the trigger maintains the same single-stage characteristic but with a slightly heavier 5.5–6 lb pull weight throughout the full length of travel.

Durable Construction for Long-Lasting Performance
Crafted from high-quality materials, including 7075 anodized aluminum and heat-treated 4140 steel, the FRT-15L3® (MIL) is built to endure heavy use. This robust construction ensures reliability and longevity, allowing you to push your AR-15 to its limits with confidence.

AR-15 Compatibility
The FRT-15L3® (MIL) is compatible with Mil-Spec AR-15 lowers and requires a full-auto-compatible bolt carrier group for proper functionality. For optimal performance, we also recommend using an H2 or H3 buffer, or alternatively, an A5 buffer system. Please note: The FRT-15L3® (MIL) may not fit in certain Colt models or other lowers with a sear block/shelf.

Unmatched Speed and Control
The FRT-15L3® (MIL) is ideal for shooters seeking speed and precision. By mechanically resetting the trigger after each shot, then locking the trigger from being pulled until the BCG returns to battery, this system allows for faster follow-up shots without needing advanced techniques. The forced reset mechanism ensures the trigger returns to the non-firing position after each round, requiring the shooter to pull the trigger again, offering full control over each shot.

Why Choose the FRT-15L3® (MIL) Forced Reset Trigger?
If you’re looking to boost your AR-15’s performance while maintaining the traditional look of a Mil-Spec trigger and safety selector, the FRT-15L3® (MIL) Forced Reset Trigger is the ultimate upgrade. With its rapid-fire capability and seamless compatibility with the AR-15 platform, this trigger provides a superior shooting experience for competition, tactical use, or range drills. Unlock the full potential of your AR-15 with the FRT-15L3® (MIL).

  1. Owen –

I chose the Mil-Spec FRT-15L3 because it is a single-stage trigger. The curved and straight versions are just too fancy for me. I gotta keep it simple. I am really impressed with the quality. While this puppy might look Mil-Spec, it is wayyyyy better. The pull in semi is so ridiculously smooth and FRT mode is all sorts of sexy.

  2. Joel –

I installed the milspec version of the FRT-15L3 into one of my Spikes Tactical builds. I like the look of the milspec version the best. The trigger runs extremely well with the Spike’s Tactical T3 buffer. I am happy happy!

  3. Adrian –

The traditional selector, the conventional pins, and the mil-spec styling all follow the same idea. Keep it looking mil-spec. Then you have safe, semi, and FRT, which keep it about as American as the law will allow.

  4. Vern –

Credit where it’s due: offering the MIL gives people with quieter tastes a version to be happy with. I’m one of those people. The simple appearance and conventional hardware make a good combination in my book. My taste hasn’t gotten any louder with age that’s for sure. I get to keep the standard look but also enjoy the 3rd position with FRT mode.

  5. Austin D –

Dude, I appreciate a company remembering that some of us like regular-looking stuff. The MIL is right in that lane. And making it here in the States adds to the appeal for me. Rare Breed isn’t importing junk from Taiwan. They’re making their trigger right here in the USA!

  6. Zeke –

My Noveske doesn’t need a sexy aftermarket trigger to be cool. It’s already cool but the mil-spec FRT-15L3 let’s me keep the standard mil-spec look while also giving me a high-end single stage trigger in semi and a wicked cool 3rd position FRT mode. I get the best of everything with this model.

  7. Mitch –

Already own a C3 and have been extremely happy with it but I picked up the mil-spec L3 to test it out. So far I am very happy with the single-stage operation. The single-stage is super smooth and buttery. And, I love the mil-spec look.

  8. Gray –

This bad boy might look mil-spec but it is anything but mil-spec. The mil-spec look is the whole appeal so you get a 0/90/180 selector but behind that selector is a trigger system offering both semi-auto and forced-reset modes. Huge difference from an ordinary mil-spec AR trigger.

  9. Graham –

The mil-spec version of the L3 was the version I wanted because I prefer traditional AR controls. The 0/90/180 selector gives you three distinct positions while keeping the AR looking more mil-spec. I also prefer the single-stage trigger in semi. It gives me the added functionality of having a forced reset 3rd position without reinventing how I typically run a rifle. Clear winner for me!

  10. Jarod –

A little less show suits me all right. The MIL has that ordinary look I tend to favor. High-quality single stage pull in semi, a badass frt 3rd pos and no rhinestones required.

  11. Dan H –

One of the details that jumped out at me the quickest was that the MIL version doesn’t use anti-walk pins and rather, it uses conventional hammer and trigger pins. Not that I don’t like anti-walk pins but there is always some inconsistency in how they fit in any specific lower. Machined lowers tend to be slightly wide than forged lowers so if the anti-walk pins are wide enough for a machined lower, they are typically just ever so slightly too long for a forged lower. Then understandably, some people are unhappy if there is a little side to side movement of the anti-walk pins. There are ways to adjust for this but most people don’t want to go to that effort. They want to install something straight out of the package. I get that. But with the traditional mil-spec style hammer and trigger pins, this isn’t a concern. I am really splitting hairs by even bringing this up because truly, it’s a non issue but I also think it’s worth mentioning. End of the day, the FRT-15L3 is such a high quality single stage trigger everyone should be extremely happy with its performance. And then the 3rd position FRT is simply badass and awesome. It does exactly what it’s supposed to and, it does it really well. But for me, I just lean toward the mil-spec version of the L3. It is what I plan to use moving forward and what I recommend to all of my friends.

  12. Wallace –

I put the mil-spec FRT-15L3 in my Daniel Defense DDM4 and really like how the trigger and selector keep the standard mil-spec look. Personally, I just prefer the mil-spec look over the high-end aftermarket machined look. I wanted the three-position functionality without changing the traditional look and feel that I’m used to. The single-stage pull in semi is also right up my alley. This setup feels like it belongs in the gun.

  13. Coleman –

This is gonna be my go-to trigger for all of my builds. The trigger pull quality is a 10 outta 10 and it’s got the mil-spec look that I really prefer. And of course, it’s got that wicked 3rd position. I am stoked to see the L3 offered in this mil-spec style.

  14. Thomas –

The mil-spec version of the L3 is legit! It’s got that low-pro, grey man kinda look and feel and I am here for it!

  15. Jack –

In addition to have a mil-spec looking trigger, I really like that the MIL version of the L3 uses conventional hammer and trigger pins rather than anti-walk pins. I love the mil-spec look and I’m happy Rare Breed is now offering this option. Thank you RB!

  16. William –

Some folks notice the dramatic-looking parts first. I’m more interested in a design that looks settled and familiar. The MIL L3 has that appeal for me. My idea of dressing up is apparently dressing down. Then of course, there is the extremely smooth pull in semi and a beautifully chaotic FRT mode. All in all, I am happy!

  17. Matt –

I am so happy to see Rare Breed is now offering a MIL version of the L3. The mil-spec look of the trigger and selector is big for me. I build a lot of guns and want that classic look. It really is as simple as that. I’ll be ordering them regularly.
